Bizzell Announces New Center Director for Tulsa Job Corps Center

 

 

June 22, 2023 (New Carrollton, Md) – Bizzell US (Bizzell) is pleased to introduce Adrienne Pope as the new Center Director for the Tulsa Job Corps Center, operated by Bizzell. As the new Center Director, Ms. Pope will oversee the strategic direction, daily operations, and overall success of the center. She will work closely with the center’s dedicated team of educators, counselors, and support staff to ensure that each student receives the highest quality of education and guidance necessary to thrive in their chosen career paths.

Ms. Pope has over 19 years of leadership experience in education and Job Corps Centers. She has supported the Hartford Job Corps Center in Hartford, CT since 2010 where she has served as the Center Director, Deputy Center Director, Director of Administrative Services, and Careers Services Director.

Bizzell operates the 13-acre Tulsa Job Corps Center, where they provide academic, career technical, career success skills, and career development training and related support services to nearly 235 young adults each day between the ages of 16-24. The Center offers students education and training programs in the hospitality, construction, heath care, and homeland security industries. With more than 115 staff supporting the center, all are residents of the greater Tulsa community and work to partner with local businesses and resources, such as the YMCA, University of Oklahoma, and Tulsa Police Department, to assist the students throughout their journey.

Bizzell Awarded Federal Contract to Operate New Haven Job Corps Center

November 29, 2022 (New Carrollton, MD) – Bizzell US (Bizzell) has been awarded the federal contract to operate and manage the New Haven Job Corps Center located in New Haven, CT, effective December 1, 2022. This five-year contract will provide education and training to 157 youths and young adults between the ages of 16 and 24. In addition, the contract will provide jobs for 92 staff members, all of whom are residents of the New Haven community. Further, Bizzell will engage and leverage community partnerships as part of the city’s economic development impact initiative.

Students enrolled in the New Haven Job Corps Center program will be able to obtain their high school diploma and complete training for a trade in construction, healthcare, advanced manufacturing, finance and business, or culinary arts. Graduates from the New Haven Job Corps Center will be provided career placement assistance, which can include an industry-related job, college, the Armed Forces, apprenticeship training, or advanced training.

Bizzell To Operate Long Beach Job Corps Center

February 16, 2021 (New Carrollton, MD) – The Bizzell Group (Bizzell) was awarded a contract by the U.S. Department of Labor (DOL) Employment and Training Administration (ETA) to operate the Long Beach Job Corps Center (Long Beach, California). Through collaboration with Serrato Corporation, Bizzell will build upon the Center’s current success by delivering a broad range of support services, resources, and programs that will equip Job Corps students with the skills and education to propel them on career paths for the future.

“With record youth unemployment across the nation due to the COVID-19 pandemic, career training programs like Job Corps are vitally important to continue moving our economy in the right direction—which is why I’m honored that DOL selected our firm to lead the Long Beach Job Corps Center,” said Anton C. Beginning April 1, 2021, Bizzell will assume oversight of the 17-acre Job Corps Center located at 1903 Santa Fe Avenue. The Southern California campus will employ nearly 130 full-time staff and serve 300 students providing industry-recognized certifications in a variety of fields including certified medical assistant, medical administrative assistant, pharmacy technician, building construction technology, painting, glazing, cement masonry, and automobile maintenance.

Dr. Anton C. Bizzell addresses in a recent U.S. Chamber of Commerce Foundation (USCCF) blog post how mental health is being affected as we continue to work remotely well into 2021 and beyond. Working remotely can lead to feelings of loneliness, increased stress, and difficulty concentrating and adjusting to the new work style. Still, we must recognize that remote work is part of the “new normal” and is here to stay as we continue to social distance and control the spread of COVID-19 into 2021, Dr. Bizzell believes. Remote work will very likely remain in some form beyond the pandemic, he writes.
